The importance of routine automobile maintenance cannot be stressed enough. Consider it as an investment for your safety and to extend the lifespan of your trusted car. You will also save a lot in preventive and regular maintenance rather than costly repairs and parts replacement when it accidentally breaks down (add to that the towing charge if the car breaks down in the middle of the road).

Maintaining a car involves inspection or observation, servicing, and in some cases parts replacement. As the owner, you can do the observation and inspection part (provided you have basic knowledge on how the car engine works). Knowing initial symptoms of a possible problem will save you time when you go to the auto repair shop as the technicians will be able to instantly verify and test what you have inspected.  Meanwhile, some car parts need regular servicing to ensure maximum potential.

Parts should be inspected, replaced and some serviced depending on the mileage. To give you a guide when to check each, here is a checklist based on vehicle mileage. Keep in mind that intervals in mileage or replacements vary depending on your car’s make and model so it’s important to consult your owner’s manual.

IMPORTANT!

The tires and other parts which are involved in its must be ensured of thorough check up and servicing. Because the tires are the only part of the car that touches the ground, your safety depends on it. Here are very important reminders in car maintenance:

·         If you feel vibrations while driving at highway speed and have seen indented wear patterns on your tires; if the vehicle was involved in a collision or other incidents involving extreme force; if the steering feels heavy and unstable, the wheel must be balanced and aligned soonest.

·         Tires that are worn out does not make the brake work. Remember to regularly check your tires for punctures and cuts. If they do, have them repaired quickly. You must also regularly conduct a tread test (you can insert a coin in the grooves across each tire and see if the head can still be seen, if it does, it can still be safely driven. If not, it’s time to get replacements).

Maintaining a car is not overwhelming if you know when is the right time to do it. Car maintenance and repair shops like Killmon Tires conduct a rigid set of procedures which ensure your safety and make your every dollar a worthy investment.
